‘Rentio Toor Dal’ has been a household name for over 85 years. Rentio began its journey during the nineteen-thirties with a motto – ‘We believe in the Best’ since then, it has been the king of the toor dal industry. ‘Rentio’ is a Gujarati word that means ‘spinning wheel’ or ‘charkha’.
The reason behind the name of the brand is quite inspiring The family was involved in the freedom movement of Mahatma Gandhi, to take Yarn from Spinning Wheel daily was the ritual of the family members. when Shri Mangaldas Chokhawala decided to start the Toor Dal manufacturing plant at Navapur Maharashtra, there was a question of brand name for the product, it was a unanimous decision that ‘RENTIO’ should be the brand name.

Our Mission:
Shree Mangaldas Chokhawala has the Vision of Providing toor dal produced by Desi toor only. with the unique DRY Process. Mr. Vipin Chokhawala who carry forward this legacy and was well aware of the adulteration of pulses sold loosely. He was keen on stopping this ill practice that was going on in the market and with this thought, Rentio Foods was founded. Within a short period, Rentio Foods became the pioneer of manufacturing pulses in fixed weight packages by eliminating the risk of adulteration and ensuring that only healthy products reach the customers.

Rentio; A tradition passed down for generations

When Rentio first began its journey in the 1930s, Shri. Mangaldas Chokhawala had a vision “to see Rentio as a brand used in every Indian household”. Under his reign, Rentio reached many houses in Gujarat. Later, the responsibility to carry on this mission was taken by his son Shri. VipinChandra Chokhawala who ensured Rentio Foods became a household name across the country before he passed the torch to his daughter Smt. Sheetal Chokhawala Vani, who aims to see Rentio as a brand used by people all across the world.

The Quest for Natural Protein

RENTIO was established with the sole purpose to provide Natural Protein to the citizens of India. On the quest to find the best source of natural protein, we found the Desi Toor Dal and thus Rentio was born. For over 85 years, Rentio has been the pioneer of the packed pulses industry by providing Toor dal that is rich in natural protein and retains its natural sweetness. Rentio uses a unique dry process to clean Toor dal which was devised in our in-house facility after years of research and testing.

Our Unique Dry Process

For years, toor dal has been processed with water to separate its skin and split it into two parts. But due to the moisture, toor dal tends to lose its nutritional value. This is why after years of research, Rentio has developed its own unique dry process. 
In Many of the Toor dal manufacturing plants, toor has been processed with water to separate its skin and split it into two parts. use of water makes the process easier but at the same time, it has an adverse effect on the nutritional value of toor dal. But due to the moisture, toor dal tends to lose its natural  PROTEIN. This is why from the beginning, Rentio has developed its own Unique DRY Process. Rentio’s Dry process uses small amounts of double-filtered cottonseed oil to split the grains that get dried under the sun, thereby preserving their natural flavors and nutritional value. This makes Rentio Toor Dal remain unharmed by moisture, it cooks faster and increases in volume as it absorbs more water.

Rentio cultivates pure desi grains of Toor dal on pollution-free terrains of Maharashtra. Grown by Adivasi farmers of the area without any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, Rentio brings the natural desi dal that is Faster Cooking….! Tastier…..! more yield, and mix well to your plates.
